At the moment, there is a video sitting on top of my VCR. Piled on top of this video is a list of church phone numbers (there was no Bible or Book of Mormon handy), Amelie, Ten Things I Hate About You, and two church videos. So the bad can't get out during the night.
Anyone at Blockbuster who tries to tell you that Ringu will make you laugh should be put in jail. Ringu is the original Japanese version of The Ring, and though the special effects aren't as good, there's some scary stuff in that thing. I am a bad friend... I dragged Kenzie and Tiffa into my basement and we watched it together for the first time. Tiffa has never seen The Ring. She was so scared just by Ringu that she spent the night at Kenzie's instead of just dropping her off.
The Ring is my least favorite movie in the world, for those of you not in the know. I am not generally an easy scare. Correction, I am an easy scare, but I get over being scared quickly. Not so much in this case.
sitting in the movie theater. alex's arm around my shoulders, me clutching his wrist, clutching the front of his sweatshirt, hiding my face in his chest. he with his hood drawstring pulled so tightly around his face that he can barely see the screen. this was my idea, but i'd chickened out in the ticket line and he'd made me go through with it. "should we theater-hop?" he whispers to me. the atmosphere in the theater is like oil in my blood, and i want out of there so much i can taste it. but i'm not going to be a coward. "it seems to be wrapping up okay," i murmur back as they rescue the little girl from the bottom of the well. this movie's not so bad, i think. kind of cliche.
AND THEN SHE COMES OUT OF THE DAMN TELEVISION AND ALL BETS ARE OFF.
